Community Supports Walden’s Puddle During Crisis
As you may have heard, a fire burned at Walden’s Puddle in the early morning hours of June 23. Thanks to a newly-installed smoke detection system and the speedy work of the Nashville Fire Department’s Joelton Station, the facility was saved, and many animals.
Some animals perished from the fire and smoke. We are heartbroken. Our staff and volunteers have been on-site non-stop caring for the animals that were saved and cleaning the facility, now covered in soot and grime.
We are deeply grateful for the outpouring of support from Tennesseans and our fans beyond. Your good thoughts, prayers, donations, and offers to help are greatly appreciated.
Please bear with us as we get back on our feet.
We understand that if you brought an animal to us for care, you are concerned for its well-being. We are doing our very best for every animal, but we cannot provide individual animal status reports. We have hundreds of animals in makeshift housing under tents, and our time is 100% devoted to their feeding and medical care.
How to Help
Many people have offered to help. We are so appreciative – but we can’t use volunteers unless you have been previously trained to care for our animals. The fire clean up is being taken care of by ServPro.
If you want to help, we could use donations to the Walden’s Puddle Fire Recovery Fund to rebuild. If you can’t donate, please spread the word to others who can. We created these posters you can print and share.
We can use supplies from our wishlist. If you can help please let us know by emailing waldenspuddletn@gmail.com and we can arrange to get the supplies.
Thank you so much, we can’t tell you how much we appreciate it.
Sincerely,
Walden’s Puddle Staff and Volunteers
